Creative Arts Fests is going on 11 years of bringing first rate instructors to you.  We’ve had 10 Cabin Fever events, soon our 5th Master Class Camp, and two years of Fall Foliage Festival.  We’ve seen some of the work up close and personal, but we’d like to see how far you’ve  come too!

If you’ve attended any of these Creative Arts Fests events and want more people to see what you’ve accomplished, send us your pictures! Photos of your work may show up on our blog or Facebook page!  A number of our earlier students have gone on to teach and have their work published in magazines or on PCD.  We are so pleased and proud of you all!

So, if you’ve got something you want to share, send your .jpg photos to: creativeartsfests@yahoo.com with the subject line: (your name) and title of your work.  Please include info on what event you attended, the year, and who your teacher was.  Don’t be shy – this will help encourage others to explore their talents.

Can’t wait to see what you’ve done!

METAL FOLD FORMING TO FRAME POLYMER PENDANTS

18 05 2016

Robert Dancik

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the charming Robert Dancik for a few years and his work continues to evolve. A few years ago, when he told me he was going to use concrete in his work, I didn’t believe him.  Then, I saw it – unbelievable –  I knew he was a man of innovation and creative brilliance with each of his pieces being unique and telling a different story.

Robert is offering two opportunities for students to learn from his experience.  At MCC, he will teach polymer and other artists how to use the metal work fold forming technique to frame special polymer pendants and the ease of using polymer to set gemstones and other things.

Workshop descriptions and registration form are found here.

NEW COLORFUL CLASSES ADDED! LEHMANN/SCHWARZENBERG UPDATES – REGISTER TODAY

6 05 2016

I’ve been fascinated with Jana Lehmann’s use of color and the fact that her work involves very little cane work – just precise placement of design to create veneers.  Her two new full day workshops at Master Class Camp will prove to those who are color challenged that anything is possible!  This may be Jana’s last trip to the US for a while, so if you are on the edge – take the plunge and join her at MCC.  Workshop descriptions and registration form here.

Lynne Ann Schwarzenberg has mastered, among many other things, flower and leaf canes.  Her ability to refine and create such detailed floral covered tiles has won her numerous awards over the years, including Bead Dreams (two years in a row) and Bead and Button honors.  We are so pleased that she will be bringing one of her “classic” workshops to Master Class Camp.  Her detailed TILES workshop will please even the novice.  Workshop descriptions and registration form here

There has been a recent trend exploding onto the art scene – back to nature/faux pieces.  Donna Greenberg has been a shining light with her various microbial experiments and studies in fossils and coral.  The time she has spent with the detail work really makes me question sometimes – is it real?  She is just so good at it!

We are pleased to have Donna joining us for the first time at Master Class Camp along with our other artists/instructors.  Her workshops will teach those curious students the ins and outs of making realistic looking coral and bone fossils.  For information on the workshops available and to register for June’s event, download workshop descriptions and registration form here.

THE HINGE IS THE HIDDEN SURPRISE: NICOLAS WILL DIVULGE SECRET!

Most of us have inspected an artist’s work and said, “Hmmm, I wonder how they did that?”

It’s the same question I asked myself when looking at photos of her articulated bracelets. The lines are smooth and the engineering of the hinge is well hidden.  Makes one appreciate the time and dedication artists put into developing a new technique or look.

Would you like to learn how she did it?  Well, join her in June at Creative ARTs Fests Master Class Camp in Laurel, MD for the Articulate Bracelet and Reversible Necklace.  You can download info on hers and others workshops at Master Class Camp here.

Melanie Muir has been wowing people for a while now with her sophisticated statement pieces.  Her new style is no different – bold and angled.  She seems able to use a keen eye to piece things together until is it’s just right.

Join Melanie at Master Class Camp for yet another take on her Mokume Gane using some of her detailed stamps specially developed for this technique.  Or, bring your own!  You can download info on hers and others workshops at Master Class Camp here.

POLYMER AND METALSMITHING – FOLD FORMING AND GEM SETTING

12 04 2016

Gotta be honest here – there are few jewelry artists who I admire as much as Robert Dancik for his ability to use almost anything (concrete included) to create one-of-a-kind eclectic jewelry pieces.  When I see his work up close, I say to myself – I’d like to be this good someday.  Every piece unique and carefully, or not, thought out, balancing color, texture, and medium.

Robert will be returning for his third time to Master Class Camp and has decided to share his fold forming and gem setting techniques incorporating polymer as the focal piece.  He has been busy these last few years, so we are pleased to have him joining us again.

Both of his workshops will be one day and are guaranteed to take you to a new level of possibilities. You can read more about Robert’s workshops and download the registration form here.
