Creative Arts Fests is going on 11 years of bringing first rate instructors to you.  We’ve had 10 Cabin Fever events, soon our 5th Master Class Camp, and two years of Fall Foliage Festival.  We’ve seen some of the work up close and personal, but we’d like to see how far you’ve  come too!

If you’ve attended any of these Creative Arts Fests events and want more people to see what you’ve accomplished, send us your pictures! Photos of your work may show up on our blog or Facebook page!  A number of our earlier students have gone on to teach and have their work published in magazines or on PCD.  We are so pleased and proud of you all!

So, if you’ve got something you want to share, send your .jpg photos to: creativeartsfests@yahoo.com with the subject line: (your name) and title of your work.  Please include info on what event you attended, the year, and who your teacher was.  Don’t be shy – this will help encourage others to explore their talents.

Can’t wait to see what you’ve done!

Have you seen what Tracy Holmes has been up to? WOW!  She’s got a great article in the Summer issue of The Polymer Arts Magazine AND she will be debuting her new colour cards during her 2-day workshop at right here in Maryland during Master Class Camp in July.  Tracy’s color and Dan Cormier’s Matrix Cane workshop sounds like a terrific combination!

Artist, author, and designer, Jana Lehmann, will be joining us at Master Class Camp for the first time in July.   I have been drooling over her work which used these graphic patterns in the most unusual ways.  Imagine this patchwork of graphic tiles in bright color blends!  WOW! Check out her Flickr site for more eye candy.

We want to make this a great experience for Jana and all instructors teaching, so if you haven’t registered yet, wait no longer.

Workshop information is available HERE and online registration is available HERE.  Don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have them. See you in 1 1/2 months!

STILL TIME TO REGISTER FOR MASTER CLASS CAMP IN JULY.

Eugena Topina, originally from Russia, has used her science background in planning and creating new and innovative multi-functional tools for use with polymer and other media.  The stamps, created from scrap polymer and small strips of metal, are exquisitely detailed with simple, elegant lines.  She does not teach very often and we are lucky to have her living here in Maryland.

This will be her first time teaching at Master Class Camp and she is thrilled to be among some of the other talented instructors.  Take a look at some of her other work and you will see the value in learning from her.

Workshop descriptions can be found here and online registration can be done here.

GETTING YOUR WORK TO WHERE YOU WANT IT TO BE…ALWAYS LEARNING AND GROWING

15 05 2015

KASSEL – POUF necklace

We can see examples all over the internet of work from those who are just starting out (where we were all at one time) to those who have moved their work to the next level and above and are considered “professional” artists.  The Master Class Camp in July is not meant to intimidate, but to help you grow in your art.

One artist whose work I’ve seen grow and change so much over the last few years is Doreen Gay-Kassel.  She is my friend but also a very talented artist who has continued to amaze and surprise me with the extent of her work.  She will be teaching a 2-day workshop on this new technique in July. You can see more on her 2-day workshop here https://polymerclayfests.files.wordpress.com/…/mcc-2015… and REGISTER online herehttps://creativeartsfests.wufoo.com/forms/znmjqnl176o6ft/

MCC 2015: USING METAL STRIPS TO CREATE IMPRESSIONS AND SCRAP TO CREATE ART

29 04 2015
TOPINA - STAMP-ALL POSSIBILITIES

TOPINA – STAMP-ALL POSSIBILITIES

How many stamps to you have in your collection? I have so many, unfortunately scattered in different places – it would be difficult to count them all.  However, we all know that stamps can be used in a multitude of ways when working with polymer.  They are not only used for making an impression on a piece of paper. They can be used for mokume gane, Sutton Slice, and faux enamel techniques.

If’ you are at all an experimenter, then taking Eugena Topina’s workshop is one you may want to consider.  Look closely at the photo above and you will see that she’s used the same stamp for each sample – just amazing!   She’s worked years to perfect it and if her work is any example, she’s done it well.  Making handmade designer stamps, including extensive detail, has become one of her signature trademarks. Join her and begin making your own unique one-of-a-kind stamps.  Updated workshop information is here.  Register online for Eugena’s workshop here.  For clarification: There is no wire involved in the making of my stamps. They are made using scrap polymer clay and metal strips. I will share the source of the materials and explain how to make the stamps during the class.

BENZON – TRASH-TO-TREASURE PENDANT

Jana Roberts Benzon has been in high demand and has traveled the world, teaching her graphic caning and organic techniques to many.  She comes full circle at MCC 2015 and will be teaching how to take your abundance of colorful scraps and turn them into beautiful treasures.  She, too, has worked many hours to perfect this technique for her students and is looking forward to sharing another innovative find.   Updated workshop information is here.  Register online for Jana’s workshop here.
