image1 (1) IMG_3635 (1) (1)Let’s face it, there is a lot of “stuff” out there.  We all make choices in our lives every day, every hour, every minute. But what if what we see we don’t like?  Is there another choice or opportunity available? The answer is usually YES!

So, two of our instructors are changing directions in their class offerings in June. Along with the other inspiring workshops, Sylvie Peraud and Donna Greenberg have each added a new workshop based on what their followers are asking for.  Sylvie is adding this incredibly scrumptious polymer and brass wire workshop (love the texture).   And Donna is adding the Tidal Pool necklace (looks so real!)

Do you want in?  Then download the workshop descriptions and registration form attached and send in as soon as possible.  Don’t let this opportunity pass you by.

How do you like to learn your craft?  These days, there are many more choices that students can make when it comes to how they learn techniques and projects.  All are good in their own respect whether it be online, a video, or in a classroom (see some of the photos above from previous Creative ARTs Fests events.)

However, I believe there is nothing better than being in a classroom, face-to-face with the teacher, watching as they work their magic and amaze students with their techniques.  Master Class Camp offers this opportunity from eight internationally acclaimed instructors and you can take up to 4 workshops over 4 days in a laid-back environment.  Interacting with other students and learning more tricks of the trade is fun too.

So, what are you waiting for, my friends?  Jump on board with the other folks who are excited for MCC 2016.  We’ll save you a spot!

Nope, not talking about the election, although I find it fascinating and scary at the same time.  I’m talking about learning and absorbing every bit of knowledge that can possibly fit into your brain.  I’m talking about growing and using your creative energy and steering away from inertia.

Honestly, that’s where I’ve been for the past 6 or so years.  Not able to find enough time in the studio and dealing with a creative block – one that I intend to break through this year.  So, in selecting instructors for the Creative ARTs events, I consider many things, including the medium (preference to polymer) and look at how much the artist/instructor pushes themselves to develop new and exciting avenues for their work.

I can say that each instructor at Master Class Camp in June has excelled at this.  It’s positively packed with the kind of mental energy to move me and others willing to take the plunge, onto the next phase of our body of work.

So, I ask you this question again – Who will you choose?  Workshop information and registration form is available here.

Melanie Muir has been wowing people for a while now with her sophisticated statement pieces.  Her new style is no different – bold and angled.  She seems able to use a keen eye to piece things together until is it’s just right.

Join Melanie at Master Class Camp for yet another take on her Mokume Gane using some of her detailed stamps specially developed for this technique.  Or, bring your own!  You can download info on hers and others workshops at Master Class Camp here.

Creating under pressure can often be stressful.  But I realize each year as we begin Cabin Fever, that attending for some is their get-away, a time for relaxing and allowing their inner artist (many are doctors, nurses, IT people with a lot of daily pressure) to come out to play and be massaged.

We had an exciting first day of Cabin Fever Creative Arts Fest 2015 and the rooms were abuzz!  And, goody bags overflowing – but it’s just the beginning.  We have 6 more days of immersing ourselves into our art and absorbing what we can from the over-abundance of creative talent.

Nan Roche, Marie Segal, and Eugena Topina were our first instructors up and they didn’t disappoint.  Today, Nan and Marie come back for their collaborative workshop on Bauhaus design, the Mitchell sisters bring on their engineering and design expertise, Robert Dancik shows us how concrete is not just for sidewalks any more and Christi Friesen shares how to dramatically adorn ourselves.

Tonight also begins the first of two nights of our newly added mini-workshops which are open to public registration.  Maureen Carlson, Anke Humpert, and Mags Bonham join us for tonight.  Cost is $35 and you can register onsite. Can not wait!

CFCAF 2015: 4 DAYS TIL COLLABORATION – Artists working together

8 02 2015

Collaboration in many fields is the key to success.  So it is in our world as well.  This year, we have two collaborative teams to choose from.

Karen and Ann Mitchell

Karen and Ann Mitchell

Ann and Karen Mitchell are the first and  have been collaborating since they were children…they are sisters after all.  Together, they created ANKARA Designs over two decades ago and their success lies in their ability to create new work.  Their inspiration comes from all around them and they will be sharing their focus in two workshops at Cabin Fever next week.

The first is their full-day workshop on Friday, 13 Feb., is about Engineering and Design in Jewelry Construction. Together, they create each piece to be as unique as they are and they will share their tricks and tips with you on putting your components together into a spectacular piece.

Their second offering is a 2-hour mini-workshop on Monday night, Feb. 16, from 7-9.  In this brief time, Ann and Karen will talk with you about ways to get out of that creative rut and find your unique style and inspiration. Both workshops still have availability.  You can also register onsite for the 2-hour minis.

The second collaborative team we’d like to look at is Nan Roche and Marie Segal.  They’ve known each other for years, but it wasn’t until 2013 that they decided to collaborate on a teaching venture.  It worked!  So they are back again in 2015 teaching their polymer take on Bauhaus design on Friday, 13 Feb. I can guarantee never a dull moment in this workshop and so many ways to apply the technique.  Openings still available.

WOW!  Less than one week til Cabin Fever begins and I’ve got loads of work to get done still!  If you been waiting, do it now.  We’ve opened registration for day trippers and we’ve added some 2-our evening workshops for those unable to attend during the day.

There is still time to join us and create your own immersion studies.  Here’s a sneak peak at two of the evening workshops.
