CFCF 2010: Silent Auction to benefit Charities…

15 02 2010

Julie Eakes auction donation

As with previous years, we make it a point to give back to charity with each CFCF event.  This year is no exception, with some really wonderful contributions coming in.  The charities selected this year are the American Cancer Society, the Children’s Defense Fund, and with the recent disaster in Haiti, the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund.

This beautiful piece was donated by Julie Eakes, a wonderfully talented polymer clay artist who has recently come into her own with her intricate and delicate face canes.  I was fortunate enough to snag one of her “Obama” canes last year and truly covet it.  Julie will also be demonstrating at CFCF, showing us a small example of how she begins creating her magnificent canes.  Thanks, Julie, can’t wait!  I don’t yet know what the retail value on this is, but bidding will start at 50% of that price…we hope to raise lots more this year for these charities.

Sarvas Weltman Pod Necklace donation

The pod necklace to the left is the first of two donated by Ronna Sarvas Weltman, author of “Ancient Modern” designs in mixed media and polymer clay.  Ronna is not only one of the talented instructors at CFCF this year, she is also an extremely talented and prolific writer (you may find some of her articles in Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazine as well as other jewelry magazines.)

Ronna uses simple texturing and a variety of color palettes to create her signature looks.  Her CFCF class will be on making polymer clay rings … many are chomping at the bit to get just a sneak peak and her work and techniques.

Retail value for this pendant is $180 with bidding beginning at $90.

Marie Segal "Goddess Pin/Pendant"

This next piece is a wonderfully whimsical and colorful wire and polymer clay “Goddess” pendant/brooch donated by Marie Segal.  Marie and her husband, Howard, are the owners of the Clay Factory in Escondido, CA.

There are plenty more auction items to come…Stay tuned …and don’t forget to get your bid in!
