Julie Picarello

I’ve been admiring Julie’s work for several years now and was pleased when she came to teach at CFCF 2008.  Since then, her polymer clay teaching/designing career has blossomed and her style has become well known.  She’s also a really terrific gal!

“My focus so far has been on using polymer clay for jewelry, and I’ve found that the combinations of shape, color and texture lend themselves to unique wearable art.  My designs reflect my love of color, symmetry and clean lines, yet also allow for a bit of whimsy with incorporation of metal tubing, hardware, semi-precious gemstones and vintage watch parts.”  In her own words, Julie tells us more about herself to help you get to know the woman behind the designs:  “A computer circuit designer for over 20 years, I have dabbled in a variety of media – glass blowing, glass fusing, lampwork beads, wire worpicarello-ffcf_silk2king, bookmaking, metal etching, metal smithing and more.  It was not until 2004 that I was introduced to polymer clay and found myself entranced – especially as I could combine metalworking with polymer in mixed media designs. The primitive power and strength of metal and the sophisticated depth and dimension of polymer clay are to me a perfect union.

So come join us, folks!  There’s still some spots left in most of the workshops but you don’t want to wait too long.  And Julie, looking forward to you again in February my friend!
